Solving the Problem

My Selected Opportunity (1): There is a vast majority of the student body here at the University of Florida, that go to school full time and have a job, such as myself. Don't get me wrong, I love generating revenue for myself but at this point in time in my life my studies come first. At times and quite often actually, my school schedule and work schedule will collide and do not merge. This occurrence always ends up with me making a sacrifice, either school or work will need to be neglected due to a time scarcity and maybe poor planning as well. Both of my jobs will always ask me to work extra hours when I need to study for an exam, it's like my employers have a sixth sense or something. What the bulk of this information I am providing boils down to is that I am always needing to study when my jobs want me to work.

My Proposed Product/Service (2): I am sure I am not the only student that deals with the employer/study contradiction. If you are one of those students, I have good news for you, I have found a solution. I would like to start a business kind of like a temp service but for students. The business will essentially be a pool of students who are ready to fill in for you at your job when you need to study and not work. Depending on the type of job you have, there will be a competency test for each type of job to make sure the student will be able to take someone's place efficiently. This will give students that do not have a job an opportunity to earn some extra cash and obtain experience in the workforce, while the students like myself can focus on studying while keeping our employers satisfied.

  1. Hey Cayman!

Firstly, great job on separating the two requirements of the assignment; I know it wasn't specifically requested for this particular assignment, but doing it made it much easier to know what to look for, so thanks for that. Your selected opportunity was descriptive and well-stated and appeals to a great many people; I myself also have a demanding job that can make scheduling time to study a challenge. I thought your proposed product/service was a viable and intelligent answer to a truly prominent problem. I think that while this solution is in its infancy, it has the potential to be a product relied upon by a great many. Great job!

  2. I can totally relate I work a lot to support myself and deal with all of life's curveballs but when working interferes too much with my studies I prioritize my studies and oftentimes employers aren't as accomodating or understanding as we need them to be even when you make it really clear that youre a student and that is your priority this service would be great for relieving the stress associated with balancing your life as a student an employee.
